How long before my order ships?
Collection skeins are dyed to order and have a processing time of 10-15 business days. Our ready-to-ship skeins have a processing time of 1-2 business days.
Do you ship internationally?
We are pleased to offer international shipping to select countries. Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on your location and order size. All international orders are shipped with tracking via USPS or another comparable carrier.
Delivery times vary depending on destination, but typically range from 1–4 weeks after your order has shipped. Customs processing may cause additional delays.

YARN INFO
How is your yarn dyed?
All of our yarn is dyed by hand in our home studio using professional-grade acid dyes and citric acid. Each skein is thoroughly rinsed and heat-set for colorfastness.
Will my yarn look exactly like the photo?
We try our best to match our photos to the true-to-life color of the yarn. Due to the hand-dyeing process and differences in monitor settings, slight variation is normal—even between skeins in the same batch. We recommend alternating skeins when working on larger projects.
Are your yarns superwash?
It depends on the base. You can find fiber content and care instructions of all of our yarn bases here.
How should I care for items made with hand-dyed yarn?
Care instructions vary depending on the yarn base you’ve chosen. Please refer to the Our Bases page for details specific to each base.
As with all hand-dyed yarn, some color may bleed—especially on the first wash. To prevent unwanted color transfer, we recommend washing items separately or with similar colors.
Always use cool water, a gentle detergent formulated for wool, and avoid excessive agitation to keep your hand-knits/crochets looking their best.
How should I store my yarn?
We recommend storing your yarn in hanks until you’re ready to wind it, to help preserve its original structure.
Can you wind my yarn?
We do not offer yarn-winding services at this time.
CUSTOM ORDERS & COLOR LIBRARY
Can I order a color that isn't in the shop right now?
Yes! You can order full-pot quantities from our color library anytime. Just fill out a custom order form, found here.
What's a full-pot quantity?
A full-pot quantity is a batch of 3 skeins. We offer full-pot orders for colors in our library that aren’t currently in rotation, helping us keep excess stock to a minimum.
COLOR OF THE MONTH
What is the Color of the Month?
Each month we release a brand-new, exclusive colorway that isn’t part of our regular collections. These Color of the Month (COTM) yarns are our way of experimenting with fresh ideas, seasonal inspiration, and unique shades you won’t find anywhere else in the shop.
Because they’re designed to be special one-off creations, Color of the Month yarns are only available during the month they launch. Once that month ends, the color is retired and will not be restocked or offered for custom orders — making every COTM a true limited-edition collectible.
RETURNS
What is your return policy?
At 96 YARNS, every skein is dyed-to-order by hand. Because of the custom nature of our process, all sales are final. We do not accept returns, exchanges, or cancellations under any circumstances.
- No Returns or Exchanges
Once yarn has been purchased, it cannot be returned or exchanged. Please be sure of your selections before placing your order. - No Cancellations
All orders are considered final once they are placed. Because dyeing begins shortly after an order is received, cancellations cannot be accommodated. - Color Variation
Due to the hand-dyed nature of our yarn, slight variations between skeins are normal and part of what makes each skein unique. These variations are not considered defects.
We encourage customers to review product descriptions, photos, and colorway notes carefully before purchasing. If you have any questions prior to placing your order, please don’t hesitate to reach out — we’re happy to help.
Thank you for supporting 96 YARNS!
